What do I get with each audition cut?
With each audition cut, you receive a high-quality solo piano track—perfect for rehearsing or video recording. The track is consistent with what you hear in the Audio Catalog, so you know exactly what to expect. You’ll also get a PDF of the song to guide you with pitches, rhythms, and precise cuts as made by the arranger. You may practice with the vocal track to learn the arrangement.
Are the Audition Cuts in the Audio Catalog free?
Members can choose three audition cuts at no extra cost as part of their membership benefits. Members gain full access to the audio library for listening and discovery. But starting at $12 each, volume pricing is available, with lower per-song costs when multiple cuts are selected.
Do I own the music and audio files after payment?
With your payment you are only accessing the printed arrangement and audio file offered by Audition Book / Elevated Music, LLC - you are not buying the arrangement or its individual parts. As part of an agreement with the song publishers, you (the payer) may use the arrangement for auditioning purposes only, not for public performance. You may not copy or share your pdf with others, and all printed pdfs must be destroyed after use.
Who are the singers in the Audio Catalog?
The singers featured in the Audio Catalog all share a common thread: they are experienced auditioners. They represent a diverse range of experience—from college students and professors to seasoned professionals who have performed on Broadway and in theaters nationwide.
What is the difference between a 16-bar and a 32-bar cut?
The producer holding the audition will specify a 16-bar or a 32-bar cut, or they may give you a time limit. You can search through our Audition Cuts by time or bar length. Choose your audition cuts according to the time allotted, range and varieties of character.
Can I change the keys to my Audition Cuts?
Arrangements at Audition Book are made in the original keys of the first recording / production. We are not a service such as MusicNotes where keys can be adjusted to suit your voice. Arrangers at Audition Book are doing what directors want - original keys (or as close as possible). However, your piano track for self-taping can be slowed down or speeded up and the key (the pitch) can be adjusted up or down (up to one whole step in each direction).
Are your arrangements 16 or 32 bars exactly?
Our arrangers make the most economical choices when they are creating audition cuts. The goal is to get the most singing into the allowed time. Sometimes a better cut is 24 bars and sometimes quick waltzes can be up to 50 bars but still only be a minute. Maybe an arrangement is longer than 32 bars (35 bars for instance) to complete phrasing or to hold a final note. 16 bars will be between 0:40 and 0:55 seconds, and 32 bars is generally 1:15 to 1:30.
How much is a membership to Audition Book?
Audition Book membership is $25.00 per year which allows you to upload and organize your sheet music pdfs into clearly labeled, color-coded folders (Audition Books), helping you quickly find exactly what you need when you are at an on-site audition. In addition, members can access an ever-growing audio catalog of professionally recorded audition cuts, allowing you to listen and explore repertoire before selecting materials to add to your Audition Book.
Can I cancel my membership?
Memberships may be canceled at any time. Cancellations take effect at the end of the current billing cycle (one year), and access will continue until that time. All fees are non-refundable. Upon expiration, access to your account and all associated materials will be discontinued.
